Alec Kalled is a theatre artist based in Salt Lake City, UT, specializing in acting, teaching, and arts administration. He is dedicated to working in diverse spaces that support and uplift local, queer, and racialized artists. Alec works with Plan-B Theatre as a resident Teaching Artist and is gearing up for his fourth year with Plan-B’s Free Elementary School Tour. Originally from New Hampshire, Alec moved across the states and settled in Salt Lake to study at Westminster University. After completing his BFA in theatre, Alec relocated to Southern Florida to pursue his master's degree at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

During this time, Alec engaged in a rigorous academic program and gained valuable experience working with FAU’s on-campus professional theatre company, Theatre Lab, which focused on producing new works. While at FAU, Alec also taught speech classes, built connections with professional theatre companies, participated in numerous productions, and ultimately obtained his MFA in theatre acting. Some of his recent acting achievements include roles in productions such as Bald Sisters (Seth/Seif) with Salt Lake Acting Company, Full Color (Bijan) & SQUEAK (Squeak) with Plan-B Theatre, Sleeping Beauty’s Dream (Siegfried/Kephalos) with Sting & Honey, and Fremont Junior High Is Not Doing Oklahoma (Jack) with Good Company Theatre.

Alec grew up in rural New Hampshire, surrounded by vast lakes and the snowy White Mountains. As a child, he participated in many sports, with a particular focus on ski racing. After graduating from high school, he moved to Salt Lake City, UT intending to continue his ski racing career while attending Westminster University. However, he discovered a fresh passion for the arts within the university's theatre program and decided to pursue a career in theatre instead. While at university, Alec worked for various theatres in the Salt Lake Valley, including Pinnacle Acting Company, The Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival, The Classical Greek Theatre Festival, Utah Rep, The Hive Theatre, and The Grand. He also attended classes and eventually became the Theatre Society President in his senior year.

When Alec isn't on stage, you'll probably find him engaging in typical ~Virgo~ activities ranging from obsessively organizing, reading, skiing, hiking, camping, binge-watching TV shows of all genres (from anime to dramas to reality TV), playing with dogs, or most likely, playing Dungeons & Dragons with his friends.
